Mims Sr, is a second generation member of the Church of God In Christ – the eldest son of Mother Johnnie Pearl Mims and the late Elder Carlton Mims.  His father, Elder Carlton Mims, pastored Smith Chapel COGIC which was later renamed Mims Chapel COGIC.  He served at Mims Chapel as Deacon, Minister, and an ordained Elder.  He became the local Sunday School Superintendent.  He also served as the Austin District Sunday School Superintendent.   Pastor Michael Mims Sr. accepted his call to preach in 1992 and was ordained in 1996 by the late Bishop T.D. Iglehart of the Texas Southwest Jurisdiction COGIC. On July 5, 2014, upon the passing of his father Elder Carlton Mims, he was appointed the interim pastor of Mims Chapel COGIC by Bishop S.E. Iglehart.  Pastor Mims aways has a fresh new word from God  to give to the congregation and under his leadership, the membership at Mims Chapel  and has continued to grow.  Beside every Great Man there is a Great Woman. First Lady Missionary Beverly Mims is a native Texan, born in Luling, TX.  She is a powerful Woman of God with a hunger and thirst for the world to be save. First Lady Mims and Pastor Michael Mims have three daughters, one son  and are the proud grandparents of 6 grandchildren.
